Advice about sterilising bottles in advance?

Does anyone know where I can get good solid advice about the current recommendations for preparing and sterilising bottles and/or making feeds while out and about? There seems to be such a lot of conflicting advice between the us and the uk on this one, let alone the regional variations!

We are going away for the weekend and I'd like to know how I can feed my baby while on the go, not necessarily having access to electric/water etc.

Thanks in advance!Advice about sterilising bottles in advance?
I would definitely make sure that the bottles are sterile before use, if your not going to have access to electricity or water I would recommend buying the disposable sterile bottles from somewhere like boots or Tesco etc and buying ready to drink formula, it might cost a little extra but at least you wont have to worry about bacteria.

Hope I helped xAdvice about sterilising bottles in advance?
you have to sterilize or the bacteria can live in the bottle and get your child sick. I used disposible bottle liners and they are awsome for traveling. I will post the link but you can go to target and get those and you will not have to worry about washing the bottle out just get some extra nipples.
Hi ther im a Doula from the UK.The way we sterilise bottles has changed alot in recent years but the most recent leaflets are quite strict with how you go about it.You can download a leaflet on sterilising on the mothercare website.

Its quite long but ill try to explain the best I can. when out and about its advised you take a flask of fresh boiled water, your milk formula, and sterilised bottle, teat, lid. When the boiled water is cooled you mix it int he bottle with the milk formula. The goverment is now saying ther is possible bacteria in the actual powderd milk formula so its best to mix the milk feed when the water is still quite hot to kill this bacteria and then cool the bottle under a cold tap or cold water filled jug.

They also say to make a fresh feed each time,so no storing left over milk as bacteria can evolve.ill add the link to that leaflet for you.
Use boiling water to sterilise, empty, then lid on.
If you are going away I would recommend taking ready made cartons of your formula and milton sterilising tablets or fluid, sterilise the bottles then seal the lid, they are then sterile for 24 hours. If you dont want to use sterilising fluid then soak in boiling water for a few minutes.

As long as you wash bottles thoroughly from previous feeds you should have no problems.
I am in the UK and things seem stricter here....in the US it seems people are advised to sterilise only once...when the bottles are new...here is is every time they are washed and I go with that....milk...even formula can very easily cause stomach upsets...if there is a tiny bit of bacteria, then unless it is sterilised that could pose a risk. WHen I travaled with my baby who was only 2 months old, the only thing I could think of was buying some sterilizing fluid (milton) at the chemist....I then followed the instructions on the bottle and rinsed them afterward....sometimes if I had acsess to a kettle then I doused them in boiling water too. I would also buy some anti-bacterial hand spray for yourself.....traveling there are a lot of germs.
i read that you don't have to sterilize bottles at all, not even before the first use. human bodies are made to deal with a certain amount of bacteria and actually it has been proven that being too sterile can cause allergies because the body, never being introduce to these harmless bacteria, never build up an immunity to them. i never sterilized my son's bottles, and he is the healthiest little baby around. if it worked for my mother, it will work for me. :) i just wash the bottles (nipples, paci's, etc...) in hot soapy water and they're good to go.
We do not worry about it when we are on the road. We bring 2 bottles with us and wash them really well with very hot water between uses. We also bring bottled water just in case and we are all set. If you are worried about it and want to bring less you could always do the drop in bottles so you can just chuck it when you are done.
Here you go
