I'm an 18 year old student and have just started working. I picked up my pay packet yesterday and found that I had been taxed 拢29 a week. I spoke to a fellow colleague who told me I shouldn't be getting taxed this much as I only work 18.5hrs a week and also because I am a student. Is this true and if so how can I get it sorted?Can you give me some advice about being taxed?

Its probably an emergency tax payment, it should say what bracket on your wage slip. This should sort itself out and you will get a tax rebate. If worried then ring your local tax office.
anything over 16hrs a week is taxable
