Are there any UAE nannies out there to give advice about working over there?

I have been offered a job as a Nanny in Al Ain, UNE. Great pay and seemingly nice situation. I am quite apprehensive though, the thought of living over there is quite scarey!! How much freedom do women have over there, is it safe? Is it a nice place???Are there any UAE nannies out there to give advice about working over there?
The UAE offers many opportunities for household helpers like daycare and childcare providers as well as drivers and other personal assistants.

I'm not sure what you mean by ';freedom'; of women because it's a subjective term but women in the UAE tend to have equal rights as men and it's definitely a mixed society in the workforce.

As far as working for a family goes it really depends on the family, there are several ';horror'; stories about bad things happening to nannies who work in people's houses in the Gulf but really they are overblown and probably not as common as you would think.

If you have a nice family with previous references and/or good terms on your own personal freedoms (when you have to work, when you don't have to work, when you can leave the house, who gets to look after your passport, etc.) then I'd say you have a nice job in store for you.

Be aware that labor laws differ from country to country though and you might think you have some recourse if some contract is broken or changed after you get there when you don't have any recourse really, but again this is in extreme cases.

Most people go to the UAE because of the benefits of living and working there and there are many and as long as you know your employer and have references and are ok and accept your working situation you should be fine.

See site below for more info on the UAE.
