I'm choosing between two laptops, the one I'm leaning towards has Vista Business, though. I'm not planning on using it for a business, just for college. Am I missing out on some things that Vista Premium has if I get the business edition? If so, what am I losing? Can I get some advice about Windows Vista?
Vista Business does NOT have the following that Vista Home Premium does have:-
1. Experience photos and entertainment in your living room with Windows Media Center
2. Enjoy Windows Media Center throughout your home with Media Center Extenders
3. Easily make DVDs with Windows DVD Maker
4. Create high definition movies with Windows Movie Maker in High Definition
Windows Home Premium Does NOT have the following that Vista Business has:-
1. Easier remote access for your business Get to the resources and applications you need with Remote Desktop Connection
2. Windows Fax and Scan Easily send and receive faxes or scan documents and images with Windows Fax and Scan
3. Protect against hardware failure with Windows Complete PC Backup and Restore
If you really want the best edition of Vista then you need to get Vista Ultimate.
But if you have an XP CD use that as it's much better. Can I get some advice about Windows Vista?
you should go to the Windwo's Vista website it tells you what they each come with but Premium has more things than Business of that I'm sure I jsut can't remember what.
No, imo the business edition is better....go for it!
I just installed a copy of VB for a client, so funny when I try to test the sound, it doesnt even have Media Player, so I had to install WinAMP just to play MP3 to test the sound card.
Boy, they sure are making these different versions difficult to choose ....
Come on, Media Player is a basic function, even business users has needs for them every day, stripping that out is just taking the pee. I havent even had time to find whatelse is missing.
My choice between ..
Vista Basic
Vista Home
Vista Home Prem
Vista Business
Vista Ultimate
Answer :
Windows XP or a Mac
you will be losing things like windows media center and some other things
Most all of the features on Vista Home Premium are also on Business. As for Windows Media Player, you can download that for free from the Microsoft website. If you're already spending the money, though, I might recommend getting the cheapest OS you can, then going to some place like CompUSA and getting Windows Vista Ultimate Signature Edition. It will have many more cool features (not necessarily at the top of your list, but anyway) including a free upgrade to set a video as your desktop background available later this year. Whichever you choose of these three, I doubt you'll be disappointed. And I want to edit this to let Tudor know that Home and Basic are the same thing, so he doesn't let his clients get confused...
You won't be missing much, business has better networking and other services than the standard versions. I am not a lover of Vista, but business feels more comfortable to me than most i've tried.
The difference between all of the various versions of vista are explained on the microsoft site.
