i go to a community college and that is a good start for the winter classes, when you get into college you will want to be taking more but 3 is a safe number to take. good luckI need someones advice about college pls?
I would limit it to 2 courses at most, especially if you have to work at all. Remember that while classes are held in a concentrated fashion, the assignments will also be concentrated, and there is far less time than usual in which to do them. Taking 3 courses during a 5-week session would be the equivalent of taking 9 courses during a 15-week semesters.
I would only take 2 courses. Most people I know only take 2 courses in those shortened semesters, and it was a lot to just take two courses. It does depend on each course and the college you go to. Maybe you should take the 3rd course during a summer session; they you can finish your requirements before transferring anyway.
three classes in five weeks seems like a tough load for winterim; you probably should only take two classes, that way the work won't be to extensive. You don't want to have the pressure of dealing with three classes, especially if there is a lot to do, stick with two classes, and take the other one either in the upcoming semester or over the summer
A big part of your consideration has to be -- how do you feel about knocking yourself with your studies for 5 weeks straight?
Taking 50% more than a normal workload has been done many times before.
i don't think it is too much.
idk how Art is but Sociology and psych are both pretty easy.
That depends on your lifestyle. Do you have a part time or full time job?
Are these classes scheduled together (time wise) so you don't have to commute to school more than once a day? Sometimes classes are not available all within the 'morning' hours or 'afternoon' hours. Look into that first and try to keep them together. Most likely the art class will be a 2 hour class 2 days a week either Mon/Wed or Tues/Thurs (or atleast thats how all the art classes were when I went to college). If you have a job that is necessary for your living, then you may become overwhelmed. Otherwise if you're just going to school then 3 classes (esp the ones mentioned above) shouldn't be a problem for you because the homework load won't be too different from highschool's.
Sometimes it's alright to have a 'space' of time (like an hour or two) between one of the classes so you can grab some lunch or work on homework at the library.
Also I want to mention that if this is your first year at a college, you are probably taking basic courses (100 level courses). Basic courses are relatively light loads. I say , by all means, take those 3 classes. And if it doesnt work out for you take less classes next time.
Make sure you register for those classes quick. Community college classes (esp the basic courses) fill up quick. Dont take any classes that are too irrelevent to your intended major. If it won't count towards your major (such as prerequisite courses) or it's not transferable, then it'll be a waste of money, unless you really want to learn the subject matter.
Good luck and have fun in college
