My friend needs some advice about the following?

Right now my friend is attending a community college. He has 48 credits. His father is going to transfer to another state.


Here is what my friend needs the advice on.


1. If he transfer to another community college will the new community college award him with and associates degree since he is almost done with his current program at the community college he is attending right now?


2. Is it better or him for him to transfer to a four year university or college?My friend needs some advice about the following?
If your friend is going to another community college, make sure he checks with the school to see if they will accept his already completed credits. Some schools in different states will and some won't. If he has a chance at a 4yr University or College, it's probably better for his future. Just based off of notoriety alone, some employers look at that sort of stuff. Obviously this is dependent on what he's studying. If he's a mathematician then yes, school recognition is important. If he's going to do janitorial work, then no.

ok, i think the best thing for your friend to do is to figure out what schools he will be transferring to possibly and send them an email requesting information. Every school is different and will not necessarily accept credits from some other schools.
I thought that was the point of Community Colleges to transfer out of them?? But he should ask the counselors at the college
Yes, as long as you have your transcripts, he can get an associates degree. It depends on what his major is if he wants to go to a university. And the cost is a big difference. If he wants to go to a college close to where he transferring have him go to collegeboard.com or collegeoptions.org to do some research on local colleges. And once he finds some colleges that he is interested in, tell him to go to their wesites. It will tell him everything he needs to know about that college. Tell your friend a random person says good luck!
Probably to a 4 year...especially if he wants a bachelor's...before he goes out there tell him to contact the admissions office at some schools out there and tell them to help him coordinate his existing credits into a degree program.....If you do something like history ...there are alot of open electives he can use if something won't transfer.
You'll need to check with places where he's thinking about ending up. Most will have requirements for issuing a degree. He should talk to the registrar's office at the places he is interested in trasferring to since they'd be able to tell him what they require. Their requirements might well make the decision for him.
Your friend will need check with the college he transfers to to make sure they accept the credits they have taken because some schools don't accept all credits. If he moves with his dad then it'll probably be best to transfer to a 4 year school. good luck to your friend with that.
