Agree on who is to be responsible for repairs during your respective stays. Who pays utilities. What if an appliance breaks? There is always an 'off limits' room for valuables etc. That must be discussed. When I did it, it took weeks, but could have gone much more quickly.Advice about mutual exchanges?
If you both agree you have to ask your respective Councils for permission, they check you do not have things like rent arrears or are going into over or under-occupancies. This is all I know in theory, I looked into it a bit but didn't find a suitable one, so don't know how long it takes. Good luck anyway.
