Need advice about herpes and cold sores?

I received oral sex from my boyfriend and then a few days later, a cold sore showed up on the outside corner of his mouth. Is it possible that I have genital herpes? Something of this sort has never happened with us before. I did have canker sores in my mouth, so could they have been passed to him when we kissed then moved down to my genitals? I am worried and need some advice!Need advice about herpes and cold sores?
It depends, if your canker sores are really canker sores, then they are bacterial infections and are not herpes. (if you continue to get these, you may want to ask your doctor about checking you for celiac disease, by the way).

It is possible as the virus begins to be shed in the prodromal period (when you get that tingling feeling in your lip).

The good news is that if you already have oral herpes, you body already has the antibodies and there is a slightly decreased chance that you will develop the infection in a different location.

I want you to go here to understand the staging of hsv-1 and how and when it can be transmitted:

p.s. are you sure his lesion is a cold sore? It may be Angular Chelitis, which is caused by a fungus. I would highly suggest that he runs by a clinic and let them take a look at the lesion to properly diagnose this. It may not even be herpes at all! You all just may have bacterial and fungal lesions and all this worry could be for nothing. Search Angular Chelitis and look at the pictures to see what this looks like, but do not self diagnose, please! There is no substitute for a good, old fashioned trip to the Dr.!Need advice about herpes and cold sores?
canker sores are different from oral herpes. i don't believe that canker sores are contagious. oral herpes are cold sores which can be passed to the genitals but the would basically be cold sores on your genitals not genital herpes.
