I want to help my wife with the housework but hate to ask her how to do things as I don't want to look or feel a little silly. I'm handy with a hoover, bleaching the toilet, cleaning out the bath and sink, polishing and dusting too. What other sort of chores should I be doing to help? what sort of tips do you have to give? I HATE clutter and my wife and I have decided to have a clear out this week for charity.
Thanks and best wishes.I need a little advice about cleaning...?
Sounds like you know how to clean already.
Places that you could clean..
Light fittings (get very dusty)
Mirrors
windows
hoover under furniture
hoover the matress
wash curtains blinds and nets
wipe the insides of cupboards
dust curtain poles
wash down doors..interior and exterior
any unfinished odd jobs...u could finish any u have
I bleach door handles daily because I have little ones....suppose you can just help with the clearout.
Putting things into bags etc..good luck with that.I need a little advice about cleaning...?
Well that's incredibly sweet for starters. Got any brothers? :o)
Taking out the trash and putting away the dishes are always things no one wants to do.
Along with stripping the bed and putting on new sheets.
Ah, and if your microwave tends to become a disaster, using paper plates to cover things or cleaning it out once in a while is really... stress relieving in a way.
I clean houses, and all in all, I'm pretty sure the men - husbands and their boys - don't do anything to help out. As long as you're doing it to be a help instead of getting yourself out of the doghouse, any little thing is appreciated.
Good luck
I know you think you'd feel silly - but how about asking her which jobs she doesn't enjoy doing? Then offer to do them!
My best bet would be to try:
Some Laundry and Ironing
Change the beds
Clean the windows
Washing Up
Cleaning the kitchen
Mopping floors that are tiled
Once you're 'de-cluttered' just keep it up by doing little and often. Make sure you do at least one thing every day and it'll stay nice.
Wow, try purchasing some storage boxes to tidy up clutter, attempt one room at a time. always read the instructions before you add chemicals to anything. try investing in a carpet cleaner. clean the window to let much light into your home, while cleaning your home, don't forget to clean your garden if you have one. try to recycle as much as possible!
hope this post helps
To be honest the best thing to do is ask her what she needs help with. Tell her you want to help out more but you want to help istead of getting in her way. You already sound awesome for taking the house chores own your on. The best thing is to say';Honey what can I do to help. What do you need done'; You might be surprised . She will probably love you even more for wanting to help. An if you just want to help but dont know where to get started try fly lady.
get a box and go room to room and start clearing away the stuff for charity. You could help mop....or do a load of laundry for her, maybe clean the floor boards.... Floor boards don't have to be done often but it's a job I wish my husband would do.... just because they can get over looked or just plain forgotten. maybe organize a place that overwhelms her. I think it's great you want to help her.... I'm sure she'll appreciate anything you do!!!!
How about offering you services and giving lessons to other men who have no idea what housework is and think the ';magic fairy'; does all the work while they are asleep!
You are a wonderful, sensitive man. Anything you do to help you wife would be appreciated.
Daily chores like washing the dishes, I dislike washing the dishes.
But like the others have said ask your wife she will love you all the more
Come on Mr Muscle ... get yer a*se into gear .. skirting boards and doors .. wipe with a damp cloth with diluted sugar soap solution ... the BEST for getting marks off paintwork .. to be honest .. if you are both at home together ..There`s no feckin way I would be wasting time cleaning ...I would find much nicer things to do ...!! but then that`s me ...A dirrty mare .. !! ha ha xx
Wow!!!! You help with the housework and then look around for more jobs to do? You're going to have a long and happy marriage. You are not ';silly';, Sir. You are a very wise man.
you could clean the skirting boards with bleach, i hate that job! oh and cobwebs on ceiling! windows!!!
you seem to be doing more than most men can anyway so dont worry
It sounds like you have it covered! I guess I could come help you guys? lol
