I have no experience since this is my first year to try . Any suggestions would be appreciated.Would you please give me advice about getting a teaching job ?
first of all, ask yourself if you really really are ready to be a real teacher. Prepare at least ten CV/ resume and application letter, dont hesitate to submit these even to the prestigious schools in town! my friend helped me then by looking address of schools from the yellow page. Call them first, askd the availability. ready your self for the procedures ( interviews and battery of tests ). Dress neatly. Eye-contact please during the interview. Pray.
2nd, read and update yourself about the hot issues and new findings in Education ( applied in your country and uhmm, theories accepted international), collect possible strategies that u will use for the whole semester .
AND IF HIRED ALREADY:
be flexible because you are new, expect exposures and expectations from the ';old ones'; - smile, life is beautiful.
then, always remember that u are a teacher in and out of the school. practice what you say in front of your students.Teach- smile- follow-up (meaning you teach the right things but generous to give smiles freely and find time to check your student's academic and affective status). dont commit or promise something to your students if you cant do or make it possible. Be firm with what you say. Set standards/ rules at the 1st day of meeting your students (like your likes and dislikes during your time with them)- ask them if they can do that in your class (dont accept negative comments, encourage them to say straight yes or i can do it) THEN smile. Always look at the bright side---life is beautiful
finally, involve your students during your time. be creative, make them move!!! let them apply the lessons according to their interests, generation, real life-application.dont lecture for the whole year :)
hope these can help you. goodluck and dont give up!!! again, life is beautiful, teacher.Would you please give me advice about getting a teaching job ?
You don't say a number of things that would make it easier to give you a complete answer.
First of all, do you have a teaching degree or license? What grade and subject area would you like to teach? Are you looking for a teaching job in the US, or somewhere else?
Without that info, it's pretty near impossible to help.
I suggest that you should try part-time teaching first. I agree with the earlier answers that you should provide more info with regards to your credentials.
Nonetheless, with or without the relevant credentials, it would be good to try 'real' teaching practically so that you would know if you like it or not. You would be surprised with your own thoughts and emotions after going through a classroom-instructor-led session.
Good luck.
Do you have your credentials yet?
